  • Massage and Facials

  • What is Massage Therapy?  Massage Therapy is a system of stroking, pressing and kneading different areas of the body to relieve pain, relax, stimulate, and tone the body. Although massage therapy largely affects those muscles just under the skin, it's benefits may also reach the deeper layers of muscles and possibly even the organs themselves.
  • What should I wear?  Wear what is most comfortable for you. You will be asked to undress to your comfort level. The goal of Sunset Spa is to create a relaxed atmoshpere for you to help maximize the benefits of your visit. You will be properly covered at all times, any area of the body that is not being worked on will not be exposed.
  • What if I don't want certain areas to be worked on, what do I do or say?  At the beginning of the session talk with your massage therapist about your desires and concerns. By stating your concerns you both are aware of the work and session that you are there to receive. We respect you and your privacy.
  • What if the pressure is too much or not enough? Tell your massage therapist immediately if you feel any type of discomfort or want extra attention in a special area.  If you do not let her/him know, she/he will feel that everything is alright and you will miss the opportunity to maximize your experience. This is your session you are expecting great things and are paying to receive great services.
  •  What does massage therapy do?   Massge therapy stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system (which runs parallel to the circulatory system), thereby eliminating waste throughout the body.
  • How often should I get a massage?  That depends on your reason for seeking a massage. If it is therapeutic, you may be schedule for a series of sessions. If you are coming in to keep your muscles working properly and to keep the stiffness away, every two weeks is very reasonable.  At the end of your session you technician is available to help you create a schedule that is just right for you.
  • What benefits do I receive when I get a regluar massage?   Massage can have the effect of strengthening and toning the entire body mechanism, and so helps to prevent unnecessary strains and injuries that might otherwise occur due to excess tension or structural weakness.
  • What are some other benefits of massage therapy?   Massage therapy relieves muscle tension and stiffness, reduces blood pressure, enhances the health & nourishment of the skin, improves posture, improves circulation of blood and movement of lymph fluids, reduces muscle spasms, promotes a relaxed state of mental alertness, reduces levels of anxiety, provides greater joint flexibility and range of motion and helps promote rehabilitation of post operative/injury, to name a few.
  • Why should I get a facial? Human skin is always under attack from the enviorment and it is so important that it is kept clean and exfoliated so that the cell rejuvation does not become sluggish.
  • Can I get the same benefits with products from my local store?  You may be able to purchase similar products, but you will not receive the same benefits, quality and personal care that you would receive at Sunset Spa. We recommand that you have a skin consultation by looking in our skin scope and allow our trained technicians help you find what your skin is crying out for.
  • What if I have already spent $$ on facial products from my local store, what do I do with the products?  Visit our spa and we will work one-on-one with you to create a personal regimen to help ensure that you are receiving the maximum benefit even though you are using the products in the privacy of your own home.
  • How often should I get a facial? That will depends on your personal needs and what specific treatment you are coming for, (i.e. acne or light pigmentation, series ). A Bioelements Facials will help with cell turnover and allow you to look your best knowing that you are taking steps to improve your skin. Every two weeks to keep up the healthy appearance of your skin and monthly sessions are welcome.  During your consultation our technicians will suggest a good regimen and show you ways to enhace your skin to keep it from drying out.
  • What are the benefits of receiving a facial? A healthy appearance, brighter skin, better application of makeup, smooth texture, quicker cell renewal, reduce of puffiness around the eyes, balance of oil (sebum),  improve skin tone, slough of dead cells and removing impurities to name a few.
  • Do I need to make an appointment?  An appointment will allow our technicians to specifically prepare time to treat all of your wants and needs, but of course as long as we have a technician available, walk-ins are always welcome.
  • Why do I need to drink water after a session? Water is the best detoxicant and resuscitator and is an integral and necessary part of our body makeup. Our body weight is about 60% water, our lungs water content is about 95%, bones 25% and our organd need water to function properly.  During massage therapy fresh oxygen has been flushed to your muscles and waste flushed out which might leave you feeling dehydrated.  Water is responsible for moving nutrients around the body and into cells. It is the main ingredient in the fluids that make up the blood, lymph, sweat, and other body fluids. Water is the tonic that helps to cleanse toxins from our body and helps to replenish and rejeuvenate the body after a work out. So drink up!
  • What happens if I don't drink the water? You are only hurting yourself by having your organs work overtime because,  your organs do not have the proper fluid they need to help sustain themselves.

           COLONICS

  • What is a colonic? A colonic , otherwise known as a colon irrigation, is a safe, effective method for cleaning the colon of waste material by repeated, gentle flushing with body temperature, purified water.
  • What is the purpose of getting a colonic?  Waste material that remains in the colon for some time (i,e, impacted feces, dead cellular tissue, accumulated mucus, etc.), poses several problems. These materials can be quite toxic, and may re-enter and circulate in the bloodstream, making the body feel ill, tired, or weak.
